Medication Dosing Charts
At West End Pediatrics your child’s health and safety are always our top priorities. We understand that when your child is feeling unwell, having accurate information about over-the-counter medications can bring peace of mind. Below, we’ve provided dosage guidelines for Tylenol (acetaminophen), Motrin (ibuprofen), and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) based on your child’s weight.
Tylenol (Acetaminophen)
Can be given every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 5 doses in 24 hours.

Motrin (Ibuprofen)
Can be given every 6-8 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Only for children 6 months and older.

Benadryl (Diphenhydramine)
Generally not recommended for children under 2 years. Can be given every 6 hours as needed under pediatric supervision.

General Tips

Know your child’s weight. Dosage is more accurate when based on weight, not age.

Use the correct formulation. Infant and children's medications come in different concentrations.
